[What little she knows starts being checked off in her head, little by little. It's not that she hadn't known about a Different Time, but growing up on the Ark hadn't fostered that. And even Grounders or Mountain Men or the people at Sanctum didn't function or process things that way.]
It hadn't occurred to me.
But most of them are probably from a world where that's more common, isn't it?
Fair enough. Obviously, I'm not accustomed to it. I get pushback, but not typically the kind where these particular concerns would come into play. [Her tactics are straight forward: strong arm, step back, work for the diplomatic angle, hearing what someone has to say, work that into her argument, Get Things Done. Sometimes the Done part can be iffy. And if it doesn't work out, she's Wanheda.]
So what would you do after being dismissed? I planned on working down here, but being a voice of reason at the same time. I'm not keen to give up my voice.
You're abrasive, yeah, but you're not always wrong, and it isn't fair for you to change when no one else is going to bother. Didn't you and that Hafid guy eventually get along? How'd that happen?
[ jyn will admit that clarke is a vocal member of the displaced whereas jyn herself uses the network only when necessary or when there is a funny joke, but even jyn has been patronized for stating valid points on the network. it's one of the reasons she doesn't use it.
it's probably more obvious with clarke because she's vocal. ]
This is why I make Cassian use the network for me.
It's helpful for communication, but it's better to set down guidelines if you're worried people will get off track.
I made the mistake in not doing that, and our monster-reaction plan turned into a discussion of teaching self defense.
We're not great at time and place, current circumstances only emphasizing that fact.
[Sometimes, it's very good that she has experience with delinquents. Sometimes it's good to treat the Displaced that way, though she cares about far less of them because they're not hers.]
Differing priorities, I guess. I tried to argue for saving our galaxy and the rebel leaders didn't listen to me, it's more exhausting trying to get anything done on the network.
It's why my last big plan involved a statement of what we were doing, rather than inviting commentary.
The issue with what Dean had to offer was that he didn't add anything new. It's better if you're starting fresh to offer a new perspective, or push things forward.
A leader needs to be able to take worries into mind, even if they're not your own. It's why we're planning escapes from the city if things go badly.
Though that might not prove to be a bad idea thanks to the Aerie.
[ jyn thinks the issue is that he was a myopic hutt's arse about it, but clarke isn't wrong. nate's post was enough. decent crowdsourcing that was edging toward proper ideas. ]
Contingency plans are Cassian's favorite thing.
[ force, jyn, get your pining under control. ]
They're also necessary. Planning for the worst cannot be a bad idea in this place.

Probably.
It's an awful lot of men deciding they're the arbiters of our collective fates.

But I thought it was more of a "me" thing. A Clarke thing.
[Yet it also explains why her attempts at cooling things down have gone badly.
Or why certain people saying the exact same thing are being heard.]
So, what do you think we should do about it?
no subject
I don't know. I'm used to being dismissed because I'm a criminal.

Damian liked to be a know-it-all, but he meant well.
I've also taken up more of a leadership role than I had at the time, since most of that was before Markus left.

We should do an experiment.

Or this?
I was also accused of lecturing Nate for much of the same tune as Lance in private.
It checks out.

[Mentioning Cassian, however—it really needles a point that she's afraid to voice.
Because contingency plans.]

And then there's Cassian for you.
How long until we worry they aren't coming back to us?

[ jyn will wait, she can be very patient. ]
It took me two months to admit Daisy was gone and that was only because I didn't want Larry to sleep on the street.
That is probably a better estimate.
no subject
[She doesn't say more than that. Anyone who meets Larry can guess that Larry would need someone to take care of him.]
Two months is good.
We'll need to be the contingency plan in the meantime.

The best I can think of is trying to reconnect via dreams, but that feels a little hopeless. It's just us two.
I wish I had something from them on me.

Even if it isn't, I want to make sure we try.
[Because Clarke isn't good at sitting still for two months. She's done it, but idly waiting by doesn't suit her.]
